Hi
Can anyone help? Ive been to Greece quite a few times, and always try to find tranditional areas if possible (the last was NW Aghios Stefanos in Corfu, very Greek)
My friend and I (we are both 46) are thinking of Santorini for next May, and are looking at Kamarior or Perissa. Ive heard that Kamari is a lot more commercialsed and touristy, is that right?
Any info would be apprecaited, we like traditional taverna nightlifte etc. Also, average prices of meals, house wine etc would be great
Thanks

Have you taken a look at the resort reviews?

ive just returned from kamari, we did go to perissa for the day but thought it was bit of a dump, kamari is a lot better, we stayed in santellini hotel with thomson, superb hotel
Only passed through Perissa, but would agree that Kamari is a nicer resort. Most of the nightlife is based on a lovely meal on the waters edge, watching the beautiful sunsets.
Hi..Have been to many Greek Islands, and just come back from Kamari, have to say was the best!! had fantastic weather, place is so nice and clean, no groups of lads or girls, there are 98 bars and restaurants!! with just being 1 irish bar!! place is so nice, we stayed in Aegean View Hotel, would so reccommend it!! 5 min walk out of town, most of the other hotels are so over looked.this one IS NOT!! family run, and rooms are massive! Cheap? well depends were you eat and what you order..people say dont eat down the front! but you cant help it!! so nice, sitting along the waters edge and eating! we ate a 2 course meal every night, with a litre of house red, and roughly spent between 35 and 50 euros for a meal..
Tracey - when we stayed a couple of years back, we did think it was a little too quiet for us. When we came home though, we realised it was just what the Dr ordered. I agree entirely that you couldn't not eating at the sea front - it was fantastic watching those sunsets.
we got back from kamari on 7th july, we did enjoy it but only had 4 nice meals in two weeks the rest were average to poor, we wouldnt rush back
Helen it was so fantastic! we both 43, so not into clubbing, just lovely places to eat, then a bar for a drink...if you can after eating all that food!!
Same here Tracey - just the one bad meal - lemon chicken, which was more lemon than chicken. We went round the whole island on quad bikes. Fantastic - so many gorgeous stop offs. I would certainly recommend it.
Tracey..
Cyprus for me next year, nice to return to some sand and crystal clear water, nor murky
