Have just submitted review for the Anassa hotel in Skala but here are a few other bits and pieces!
I didn't hire a car due to eye problems but for anyone thinking of doing so the roads are quiet but full of hairpin bends!
We did a couple of trips using Panem . The first was an Island tour taking in the Robbola winery ( YAY!!) no hard sell and interesting.Fiscardo - very pretty and celeb spotting, Assos village - stunning, Melissani underground lake, Drogarti caves and a stop for pictures at Myrtos beach.20 euros plus entrance fees to lake and caves.
The second concentrated on some of the Monastries, The hilltop forterss of st George with a lovely village and a Taverna serving yummy cakes, the new Cathedral of St Gerissomos , Sam iand the Robbola winery ( Yay again!

We also visited Argostoli to see the giant turtles who live in the bay who made a few appearances for us and a spot of shopping.
Went into Katelios one evening, lovely fish tavernas and a relaxing feel
Did some Scuba diving from the Apostolata hotel with Aquatic World, Its their first season in Skala although they are established in the North of the Island. Well organised and equipped. 50 euro inc kit.
More than enough to do in Skala in the evening. We ate out every night, never the same place twice and still didn't try everywhere we wanted to. Prices ranged from 30 - 60 euro ( 3 of us) for 1 or 2 starters, 3 mains and drinks including wine. Didn't have a bad meal but the best ones for us were Apostalis, Socrates, Ta Pitheria and Galera. All of the main st and a bit more "Greek"
Glass of wine around 2 euro, 1/2 litre 4 - 6 euro ( 2.5 in the Gyros taverna !)bottle of beer 2.5- 3.5 small draft 2- 3 euro , soft drinks 2 euro and cocktails 3.5 ( happy hour in Sallys' bar) to 7 euro
Found the supermarket prices much the same as at home so apart from stocking up the fridge with drinks seemed more sensible to eat out.
Although a tourist resort Skala still has a village feel with a big square full of locals and tourists at night
All in all a lovely holiday, well recommended for a relaxing break
Lally
