Hi all, just returned from this years holiday and it was so bad i'm already thinking of our next one lol! I've always wanted to try Turkey so have started looking at holidays there, i'm drawn to Marmaris can anybody recommend a good all inclusive hotel here?? Also is it best to go all inclusive or are there good places to eat out in Marmaris?
I may be going myself for a short break but also may go for a long holiday with my daughter, weather wise which is the best time of year bearing in mind shes seven years old and wouldn't want to go at the hottest time of year, which i guess is July/August? Would september october time still be warmish??
Sorry for all the questions any help would be great! Thanks
Im afriad i cant help you with Marmaris hotel as i have never stayed there - however if you want some recommendation on icmeler i can help!
I personally would not stay all inclusive in Turkey as there is so much choice when it comes to restaurants and its also in-expensive in the scheme of things.

Personally, I'd opt for Icmeler rather than Marmaris. I know it's all a matter of "horses for courses" and all that, but in all honesty, if I'd ended up in Marmaris on my first visit to Turkey, I think it would have been my last! I know some folk love the place - but I can't stand it. Icmeler may be just across the bay - but it's a whole world away from Marmaris!
Oh really? I haven't looked into icmeler is there more to do there or is it just a nicer area?
I went to Marmaris in June and am off to Icmeler in September,I like both.Icmeler is only 10 mins from Marmaris on the Dolmus,2 lira (80p).I would recommend self catering,so many place to eat out, with food and service second to none.I always S/C but never cook anything in the apartment, maybe make a sandwich for lunch, its nice to have more space than 1 hotel bedroom. Most of the all inclusives are not very good. The grand Cettia, and Royal Garden in Marmaris are getting good reviews this year.
always horses for courses.
We've never fancied Marmaris but have enjoyed Kusadasi, Olu Deniz and Gumbet.
We went All Inc when the kids were little and said we would not carry on when we were on our own but here we are still doing AI - because we find it so cost effective. We have to go school holidays, because of my job, and this year we have got a 2 week holiday (with great reviews) for £1800. Even allowing a meagre £20 per person per day for lunch, dinner and the (very much needed....40 degrees plus) drinks that would mean that you would need to find B&B for approx £1200 (£600 pw). That takes some doing when there are only 2 of you. It's also cheap enough to eat out if you want to.
Check the post "have I got enough money," and do the math
AI is a total blessing with kids - you never have to budget the first week to make sure that the money eeks out the second week. The kids can have as many drinks as they like - one after the other if they want.
You do have to research thoroughly though because standards do differ. Food is a very important part of any holiday.
Good luck with the hunting - we are looking for next year too even though we don't go on this one till Monday ....Yeah!

As for board basis, don't go AI, with so many excellent places to eat in Icmeler just go S/C

The AI v SC debate is one that will run and run but in any case neither really seems to offer the upmarket AI version. As has been pointed out though Icmeler has an embarrassment of top quality restaurants and a range of bars to offer lively or laid-back and I still consider them to be great value (look up rwb46's recent posts on prices). What both have is a whole load of good quality hotels and apartments for not a great deal of money. Just have a look on the major accomodation search sites (Travel Republic, OT Beach etc) and you will find great deals throughout the Summer. If you leave it until October add in
icmeleronline.com
and you can go upmarket with central apartments for around £12 per night.
Whatever you choose you really cannot go wrong.
