Hi Ollysmum

My seven year old was absolutely terrified of swimming pools and submerging his head under water never mind not being able to swim!!

Went to Tenerife two years ago with First Choice and booked him into "wavelength". I was absolutely amazed at the confidence the instructor installed in him, within three days he was underwater, within a week he could swim!!

On the second week we could not keep him out the pool, diving in playing etc.
Of course a lot is down to the instructor and some will be very good and some not so good, but all in all it was one of the best things we ever did on our holiday and would recommend that anybody with a child who cannot swim etc should take advantage of this "little extra"

14 year old daughter was a bit reluctant to be associated with any kind of 'clubs' when we went to the Caleta Dorada in Fuerteventura at Easter, but after she had made a few friends hanging around the football pitch, she casually dropped into the Wavelength club with everyone else most days. In her own words, she wasn't going to Wavelength, they were "just going to bother Wez for a bit..."
Wez (the Wavelength rep) was really good and managed to keep on an appropriate level with the wide age-range of kids attending the club - it was a busy school holiday and I think he split the club into 9-11's and 12-15's.
They did lots of football and stuff, had chocolate parties and trips to McDonalds and they had a leavers' party at the end of the Easter school hols (Wavelength only runs in school hols in Winter season)
I think it helped daughter make a few more friends than she would have found by herself, she still keeps in touch with some of them now, and when I got the brochures for next summer she demanded we book somewhere with a Wavelength club again.

I'm not sure if swimming lessons are available at all First Choice properties with a Wavelength Club, and a 7 year old would be too young for the club anyway, it's for 9-15's.

We have had quite a few holidays with First Choice over the years and my daughter thinks their kids clubs are the best she has been to. She has gone through the differant clubs as she's got older. With her being abit older on our last holiday she went off to the clubs with the friends she made and we hardly saw her. I was happy because I knew where she was and that she was safe and she was happy because she was doing fun things with new friends. The reps work really hard to keep the kids entertained. The clubs are ideal if you are like me and holidaying with just the one child, it stops them getting bored. It can cost you though because some of the activities have to be paid for but it really is money well spent.
