hi and welcome to HT :)
Hopefully you are getting good advice re Dom Rep. As for Greece, I would actually recommend that you look at either Crete or Rhodes for October. We went to Lindos in Rhodes a few years ago in October and had good weather. Was told though that although weather is lovely during the day it is normally quite cool at night( not when we went!) Corfu may of course have great weather but I think you would be taking more of a gamble- and the lack of response here probably backs this up.

If realy good weather is a priority to you, I agree with Fiona, you might be taking a chance on Corfu. Also, depending on how late in the month you go, things will be starting to close down. Since you're looking to go AI, this won't be too much of an issue for you as you'll have all the facilities at your hotel. Corfu is one of my favourite (if not THE fave place) but I wouldn't go there so late in the season myself. I also love the DOm Rep but I'll post on the other thread about that ;)

Ive actually visited Rhodes and Crete before so I really wanted to try another Greek island. We are hoping to go away sometime during the first/second or even third week of October. Are there any other islands you would recommend?

You could go for Corfu but you really can't count on getting good weather. Look at weatherunderground and use the trip planner and you will see quite a few days with rain - pleasant temperatures, early 20s in the main although there are days when the high doesnt reach 20 degrees.
When we were in Rhodes I think the last charter was leaving about the 21st October so many shops had little in them.
It just depends on what you are mainly going for. If you want to explore then go for it. If its purely to get the sun then Crete and Rhodes are your best bets I'm afraid.

Going South would certainly be a better bet. Think about Symi, only 24 miles North of Rhodes and well protected from the weather by the Datça Peninsula one side and the Vigla on the other.

Some good accommodation on Symi Visitor here
