Other good places are Maison del Rey (spelling?) which is located a short walk from the beech - walking from the (dodgy) Irish centre with the beech on your right, take the second left after you pass mc donalds - its really excellent, particularly the fish as you would expect.
Have to mention Miami which is down near White Square across from Jardin del Mar. This is a great place for couples but since the 2 chirldren arrived, too expensive for dinner for 4. Manolo and Marie Carmen are delightful.
My favourite hang out during the day (and to get away from hotel-itis) is Papagayo which is down the steps on the waters edge on the west side of the beech. Have to admit, the place looks shabby and most people walk through it on the way back to the verdemar hotel and beyond but it brilliant to stop and have a beer. They have a swimming pool and its easy to stay there for the day. I recall sun lounger being €2.50 to rent for the day but the pool is nice and the added benefit of waiter service. The fish, mussells and paella are great and they are happy to make you a takeway paella if you leave a deposit for the dish. Another word of warning though, it has been up for sale over the past few years and I believe it has been sold. i have heard it is operating as normal and is tarted up slightly but I wont be there until May.
Xaloc needs no further mention - its consistently good.
If indian is your thing, I have heard from local mallorcan friends that the indian restaurant down past the Auld Triangle pub (run by gas man kevin and lolly) is very good - located down white city way directly across from the small public playground and beside the laundromat.
End of the day, wherever you go and depsite lots of publicity otherwise, Santa Ponsa is a great place to visit. Something for everyone.
Not only does this have two brilliant (I installed them!!) full size snooker tables but it has a very good restaurant as well. It is right at the top of the Gran Via (main street) at the roundabout.
You can get a nice meal in The Dutchee on Carrer de Ramon de Montcada near the roundabout and the Deya Apartments.
Really looking forward to it now and any recommendations would be gratefully received?
Looks like we may have chosen the wrong end of the resort but hopefully we will have a great holiday anyway. Have never been to santa ponsa before but all the reviews i have read have been excellent.
Watering hole very plain food but good value.
Mrs Murphys kitchen, good value
Eating out has become a little more expensive, we found that for 2 of us having garlic bread, chicken and a bottle of wine , we were averaging around £35 a night, Prices have defo gone up.

Bill - I think the nearest big supermarket to Kings Park will be Caprabo - massive place sells everything.
I will fill you in on prices and places to eat on my return. I am expecting it to be quite expensive as the exchange rate is so poor at the moment.
Cant wait.

Going to Santa Ponsa for the 5th time in two weeks, and I just want to let you all know thet there is fantastic irish music with Kevin in The Auld Triangle
If you're about the square and feel like something a bit more quiet, head over to Kevin's, beside the Royal Garden, for a great night...
Couldnt agree more about The Auld Triangle, Kevin ,who is the owner is such a talented musician and not only plays great ayediddlyaye oirish music also plays a mean Sweet Child of mine too!!Wonderful entertainment!!
For breakfast Chimes was undoubtedly the best. A great choice of breakfasts (including, I'm told by the missus, a very good vegetarian breakfast), friendly service and plenty of English papers to browse through if thats your thing. Mark Anthonys also worth a mention for snacks like baguettes and toasties.
Also had some lovely breakfasts and baguettes in chimes, again they really went the extra mile to make you enjoy your visit.
Four others that i recommend are kellys on the corner, bobbys bistro, mistys and scotts up by the irish bars.
To be honest i dont think we really had a bad meal. And the resort itself was fantastic. For anyone who is visiting santa ponsa in the near future, trust me you will have a great time.
I would do anything to still be out there. Nevermind there is always next year i suppose.
