Hi all, we are back to Goa the beginning of December and as it is an early morning flight into Dabolim so we have decided to just pick up a taxi at the airport to go to Siquerium/Candolim.
I know the rough price (thanks Poipleshadow!) to aim for but I seem to have erased from my memory the horrendous time we had clearing customs and going through to pick up the cab.
Can anyone guide me through where we can change up some money for the taxi (found 500 rupeedoopies in my hand luggage!!!) and pick up or go to the desk? where we can get (un bartering!!!!) taxi.
Also can we pick up the form for customs in Mumbai?
Many thanks in anticipation! Travellingtrina and HoneybeeHarvey
I believe there is an ATM at the airport ( which means the exchange rate will be better than exchanging cash) Can anyone confirm this, and also if it's working !
If you are flying into Mumbai you will clear customs there not at Dabolim as you will on a domestic flight.
Mids
There a number of Atm's in the departure hall at the domestic terminal in Mumbai,so you will have no problem.
So we can fill in the visa/immigration forms at the airport at Mumbai and swan through at Dabolim

You will be given an immigration card on the plane to fill before you arrive
There we found that others were filling them in actually in the queue getting bits wrong and were taking so much time while they were re filling them in at the front with the official.
Then one filled his in at the front of the queue and then decided his ten mates could then push in and go through with him, thats when a local lady really got the hump and had a go, then there was a power cut!!!
Welcome to India!!!!!!
I always forget, but do remember to keep a couple of pens in your hand luggage so you can fill in the forms, keep you passport number, visa number etc handy also... (then you don't need to get you passport etc out while filling in the form).
I always copy both passports onto one page, note down the visa details and keep that in my pocket with a pen, and like you say, saves you having to keep jumping up and rifling through you bag (and then worrying that you put them back!!)
We have an flight that arrives early so wanted to have some ready cash. Last year we were able to get Rupees from Tesco but have found supply hard to come by this year. However, we have managed to get Indain Rupees from a branch of Cheque Centre. Not a good rate (71 to GBP) so only got £25.00 as there is no minimum required. For branch details go to chequecentre.co.uk
Spike.
I ask my colleagues if I can buy some of theirs...and they always give the current exchange rate!
As well as finding the rupeedoopies in the bottomless travel bag I have found a $50 travellers cheque (don't you just love it when that happens!!!!) can I change this up in Mumbai?
(16 days to go!!!!)
