Hi wonder if anyone can give us some advice please,we would really like to do a bit of exploring this year and fancy going down to kerala by train,would this take too long,how clean are the trains and toilets,and what is the food like,

The trains take about 12 hours.

The food on trains is basic but tasty & cheap, you order it and then it arrives later at your seat.
Take the train from Madgoan if you are in the south or Tiverim in the north.
You need to book tickets, you should be able to do this in Goa.
