I have read somewhere that is only a 4 an half hour coach trip away is this correct?

It is about 6 hours in each direction from Taba to Cairo by coach, it is a long and tiring journey and if done by bus in a day is in the region of 20 hours in total.

If you have the opportunity to fly to do this excursion I would recommend that as compared to a road journey.
