Hi rowdy_angel,

We're also off to the Karbel hotel for 2 weeks, but in August so keep an eye on this thread and I'll be able to recommend some places when I get back. We are similar to you in that we don't do night clubs but enjoy a wonder round various bars and eat out every evening. I'm really looking forward already as we've already been to Turkey once and loved it. However, this will be our first time to Olu.

I can recommend Njoy and Ottoman for traditional Turkish (their casseroles were great). The chinese right at the front was also really good, and Sultan Ahmet was another good one for Turkish food. Tequilla Bar was great for some alternative music (a bit more rocky) but not too loud and the guys put on a good show. Directly opposite Tequilla is a saloon which we went to a few times for nails, hair and my other half had a shave and next to Asda we had a great Turkish bath. For the best beachfront we found the Seahorse Club, really relaxed and friendly guys, with a nice restaurant up on stilts with amazing views. They'd also pick you up from your hotel, but we were at the Karbel also and fancied the walk. We're staying at the Montebello this year, can't wait.

Enjoy

Hi there
We have been to Olu Deniz twice, first time we stayed in Hisaranou but loved the beach so much we then stayed in Olu Deniz.
We love Turkey we did the Greek Islands for a few years but for the past 2 have gone back to Turkey. Last year we went to Icmeler whcih I can highly recommend, this year we are going to Turgutries nr Bodrum, but almost decided on going back to Oludeniz.

Olu Deniz - we loved it.
You MUST visit the Buzz Beach Bar,link to there website below:-
http://www.buzzbeachbar.com
Also have a look at the OluDeniz resport website:-
http://www.oludenizbeach.com
To be honest I would go back there just to be able to sit in this bar in the evening
drink one of their delicious icecream cocktails, (I recommend the Strawberry one)and watch the sunset over the beach - absolute heaven. They play really good chill out music. Have a look at their website and photos.
In the day downstairs they have a good grill restaurant.

The other resturant you must visit is the White Dolphin, a fish restaurant where you will get the freshest and best seafood menu. Its up on the cliff at the far end of Belcekiz Beach
the left hand side as you look towards the sea. Its the best place for viewing the sunset so get there early. The food and service are excellent and of course the views to die for. Its pricier than most but we saved it for our last day and wished we have gone earlier, its worth it.

In Hisaranou:- You must go and you probably will cos there aren't that many restaurants and bars in Olu Deniz. So many restaurants and bars there, you will be spoilt for choice.
Very good Chinese Red Dragon I think ( lots of chinese lanterns hanging outside, its down a dip in the road) on the crossroads right accross from Hisar Holiday Club hotel.

The Beach
Belcekiz beach itself is a stoney so do try the blue lagoon at the end or go to one of the private beaches - Sea Horse beach or Sugar Beach in the Lagoon, they will pick you up and drop you off is a dolmus free from hotel.
I'm a bit jealous hope we made the right decision in going to Turguetties.
If you need to know anything else just ask.

The White Dolphin restaurant on the cliff at the far end of the beach closed in 2007 and is now a boutique hotel - the Beyaz Yunus Ölü Deniz - I'm afraid. Only 5 rooms, no children, not cheap.

Now I know this isn't Turkish but in Olu Deniz there is a restaurant and bar with Harly Davidson's outside ran by a Dutch guy and his wife. They serve excellent steaks there with a free salald bar that is lovely too. The guy does an Elvis tribute night a couple of times a week. Now, we arem't ones for going to 'Blackpool in the sun' type places but this was a fun evening!

Also near to Buzz is a fab takeaway for a proper kebab....seems to serve all night, really cheap and yummy. Also near to Buzz is another bar, ran by the same people at the Sugar Beach lagoon......Help bar is it?? I can't remeber but they have toilets downstaris almost like a cave. Very friendly place.

For a few cheaper drinks it is definitely worth goig up the side streets. The end street and the main road to Hisaronu there are a few restaurants and bars....one does very cheap Efes...we got 500ml bottle for 2 lira....on the beach front was 4.5 lira!

Talking of the beach area....it is nice to be able to have a drink of an evening sat on bean bags/cushions looking out to sea....very civil.

We went up to Hisaronu but wasn't really our cup of tea. Although cheaper than Olu i preferred the more chilled atmoshpere in Olu.

A day out with a change is to catch the dolmus to Fethiye and have a look about. Find the fish market and but some fresh dead fish and then they will cook it for you for a few lira asnd serve with veg/salad etc at a range of little restaurnats within the market. A different meal out but lovely.

Thanks everybody. There sounds like a few places there that we will try. Hubby particularly favours a take-away kebab on the way back to the hotel after a few beers :cheers

THere are many places.

Sultan Ahmets, down on the left hand side down near the beach as you walk down the main stretch does lovely Turkish food. Captain Hooks, half way down the main street large garden area to sit in, but they do lovely fish here and the food was always lovely (we've eaten there over a dozen times in total!)

Njoy, we didnt "enjoy" at all and we ate at the Buzz bar but were disappointed in the food we had there and wouldn't go back. It was the only meal that wasnt great.

We also stayed at the Karbel Hotel (2007 and 2008) so if you have any questions or anything at all, please dont hesitate to ask :)
