Could anybody tell me if i would be better getting currency (better exchange rate) out of an ATM in paris rather than buying euros before i go?
Many Thanks
Most banks charge a transaction fee for every ATM withdrawal you make abroad and the exchange rates are usually much the same so you will probably be cheaper to get your currency here (make sure you go somewhere that doesn't charge commission).
If you have a Nationwide Flex account then withdrawals are free and they give an excellent exchange rate.
Personally I always take the small hit on the ATM transaction charge, rather than take the risk of having large amounts of cash around just waiting to be lost or stolen.
My local bank doesnt charge for taking money out abroad i just wasnt sure who decides on the exchange rate i get?
