where's the moon gone?

Just back to grey skies

yesterday after a lovely time in Playa Blanca: great spot

But could some astronomically - minded person tell me why we didn't see the moon once on our 16 nights? Loads of stars but no moon

I assumed you could see the moon everywhere at night unless it had waned

It could have been below the horizon or it was out during the day time! Also maybe it was there when you went to bed!
