You are subject to the same rules for bringing cigarettes in to the UK regardless of where you purchased them so you'd be over your limit with 1000.
Darren
The staff at duty free state that fact to you when you buy them. The fact that you have a reciept for them makes no difference - more than 200 is over the limit.

1000 Superkings are much cheaper to buy on arrival in Turkey than at UK Airports but as others have said, you can still only bring 200 per person back into the UK wherever you've purchased them.
Have you any idea on the difference in price when you get them at a turkey airport. I am going for the first time in 4 weeks and I was going to buy enough to last me for 2 weeks, so a 1000 would cover it for me and my partner. I bought some when I went from KOS to Bodrum on a day trip a few years ago but they tasted fake are they the same at Bodrum airport.
The chances of getting fakes at the duty free is very slim, but most of the ones you buy in the shops and markets usually are.Cannot remember how much i payed last October but they were a lot cheaper than here or on the plane .
Lambert & Butler @ Dalaman airport are just L&B I was not impressed with them!
The prices at Dalaman have risen over recent months but they are still cheaper than UK duty free and the airlines. 200 Superkings were EURO18 in October, EURO20 in December and last month they were EURO22, about £19.00. The same pack at Gatwick was £26.00. Most of the main brands are this price, and they have a good selection at Turkish airports with menthol options available too. We've never had a problem with cigarettes purchased at Turkish duty free shops and have never considered that any we've bought have been fakes.
cigarettes from Dalaman are def ok - but had dodgy ones at the resort! Like smoking a dust-bag!
Can you use sterling at the airport? Or would i be better off with Euro's?
Welcome onboard
Sterling, Lira and Euros are widely accepted at the airports. Most things are priced in Euros.
Darren
Thanks Darren
