Currency
We were advised to take US dollars and small amount of Jamaican dollars - - well there is no need to take Jamaican at all, in fact you are better off just sticking with US dollars as the pound is so strong & the exchange rate on the Jamaican dollar means you are not getting a good deal at all.
Trips
I had two trips with First Choice and had taken cash (as above) as I don't have a credit card and was previously advised that will not be able to use my debit card. The REP was happy to take my debit card payment for the trip and looked at the conversation this morning fromn the bank and got a reasonable deal, so I need not have taken so much UK dollars.
Traders
I will delicately put this, Jamaican is obviously known for its Bob Marley culture and all that he stands for including his love of all things that are whacky. Needless to say the beach traders - or more to the point the sea traders offer this to most new comers to the beach. The sea traders arrive at the beach by sea each day by surf board with trinkets and offer (usually young men) you some 'smoke' - neeldess to say my son was approached daily. The good thing was that as it was a private beach the traders were not allowed to come out of the sea and bother you - they called you to them and after a while you stopped going and they moved to someone else.

This was on the beach outside the hotel

This was also Mo Bay

This is Dunns River Falls.
