The USA has strict rules about importing 'produce'. They employ sniffer dogs trained to find fruit and vegetables! We took tea over as presents at Easter without a problem.

There is a list HERE of what is permitted and tea is listed. However for coffee it mentions "roasted beans only".

You can only import 1 litre of alcohol, including wine, per person without incurring duty.

Fantstic Luci.

At least now we can oblige her as it must be awful not to be able get your favourite essential things.

Thinking about it, coffee granules are probably allowed as they are already roasted as opposed to being in their natural state.

I always take teabags with me and have never thought whether they are allowed or not.
