Hi Deano,
There are a couple of ATM's in Skala but the last few times i stayed there they were out of order more than they were working! It's a couple of years since i was last in Skala so i don't know if their reliability has improved! The nearest ATM to Skala is in Poros which is about 10km down the road from Skala.there is also a bank down there.
With regard to travellers cheques, i have not used them for over 20 years so i am sory i can't help you there. If you do take English money out to Kefalonia, you can quite often get a better exchange rate than you can get back in the UK!
Enjoy your stay in Skala...... To say i'm jealous is an understatement. I visited Kefalonia 10 times in eight years. I will not be out there this year and i am distraught!

John :cheers

Hi
There were 3 ATMs if memory serves me right last year. All seemed to be working at one time or another but they do run out. As John says there are plenty of places to change sterling and the rates were better than at home but not bank rates. I don't use TCs but I am sure they change them as well.
Enjoy Skala :cheers

Hello, I'm off to the Tara for 2 (hopefully) wonderful weeks at the start of July. I promise to post a full report when I get back so if there is any thing specific you need to know just ask.

I booked my airport parking yesterday- we are flying from Cardiff even though we live in Bristol as we got a great deal, and sorted my travel insurance and got so excited just thinking about it. To say I'm giddy with excitement would be an understatement- have wanted to go to Kefalonia for so long.

Haven't been to Keffie for ages but the tourist office used to cash t/cheques also most of the hotels have facility to change them.
There are ATMs in Skala and also in Argostolli where I'm sure you'll visit .... brilliant place to sit and soak up the atmosphere. Give the piazza a miss and head for the slightly scruffy area at the harbour, food is gorgeous and is much cheaper than in the centre plus you have the amosphere and can watch the fishermen sorting out their nets etc.
If you have problems with t/c in Skala go speak to Aggalay (Angelos) at Flamingo restaurant or Spiro/ Andreas at the Sirocco ... they'll point you in right direction. Enjoy yourself, it's a wonderful place, I first went there about 1985 as one of the first package holidays to Skala, it was a tiny village and very few spoke or understood English ... it was magical and altho much has changed over the years it's still a fantastic place to be. :D
