My wife swears by any spray containing deet i myself never seem to get biten (now watch, i`ve done it now the little blighters will smother me)
i`m not sure where she buys it but i do know we have a shelf full of the stuff.
other than that i am told as many have mentioned, about the avon product but for the life of me i cannot figure out why it works?
there must be a chemical in there that repels them.
lemon cologne is nice anyway so that must be worth a try.
and i thought garlic was for repeling vampires not mosquitos???
i hope you find something that works for you.
Andy
the item your wife has with deet in it is called jungle juice, there are many products with the sames name on the shelf but read the ingredients on the back .... it states it has deet in it ( i think 50%) i use it twice while in turkey and never have a bite ....
take care ..... put it on while on the balcony and dont be smoking ... fumes are very strong
it's about £5.00 from asda within the sun cream shelves
gregg
off to LYKIA WORLD olu deniz on monday morning
have a great time gregg (so jealous)
whoooohooooo i am going to marmaris on monday too x x x
The Avon stuff is called skin so soft and you need the original scent...its a bluey greenish coloured bottle. I buy the oil spray and also the shower gel/bath oil to make double sure. I also take citronella candles to put on the balcony to keep them away, plus they look pretty. You can get a pack from Asda for a couple of quid before you go.
This time whilst in Icmeler i got attacked by Mozzies. At one point I had 11 bites on my legs despite having the plug in thingi and spray etc... Does anybody have any tips or advice for those who suffer from being bitten. How do I ward them off?
I did by the SSS Avon stuff too, but I was too chicken to use it on it's own.
My mother however got bitten to death. She had a horrendous one on her eye which made her whole face blow up and had to go to the 24 hour doc who gave her an injection and sorted it out.
I'm not sure what avon sss is. can you tell me. why would you be chicken to use it on it's own?
Ruth, it's Avon skin so soft dry oil body spray. It is the 'original' that is used for mosquitos.

Hi ruth,
The avon skin so soft 'original' dry oil body spray isn't sold as an insect repellant as such so the poster probably means that she isn't too confident that it works so she makes doubly sure by also using a recognized repellant.
I do use it on it's own though and find that it does work. Mind, I've never been bitten in my life (even before sss) despite many holidays abroad. On the other hand, my son who's susceptible to infected bites hasn't suffered since using it.
I'll give it a go next time round.
I must say though I have never been bitten like this before. I had to get ani allergy cream and a cortisone cream from chemist, they blistered too and were quite swollen too. Not nice...
Spent 2 weeks in Gumbet last month and both me and her that must be obeyed got dined on by the critters.
Had jungle formula plus jungle plug-ins in the room but these did absolutely nothing. Barman told me to use raki, so being all-in duly obliged, one rubbed on for the mozzies and one for me. Seemed to work but also used some of sis-in laws jungle formula containing DEET which also worked well. I had 31 bites at one time including some big painful ones on my back, her that must be obeyed had a hotel room siesta one afternoon and woke up with 8 new bites. Was informed that mozzies live in the overflows and u bends of the sink and bath so plugged all plug holes and overflows at night and second week was noticeably better. One of the hotel managers said they fumigate the rooms on a monthly basis so there is obviously an issue.
Favoured method in the Caribbean apparently is to cut a lime in half and rub it on but only found this out once back home.
Take it everywhere with you, as the sooner you treat the bite, the less it itches.
Yeah, I will be taking that ani-histamine cream and the ones I bough next time I go. I'm ready for the critters this time.
I'm fact it's a hot topic in the morning at the dumbed race lol
I have 30+ Bites and don't usually get any
Marmaris municipality has special vecihles for medication. That really helps. But in Dalaman Airport, there are killer Mosquitos.
We are going to Icmeler on Monday (27th) for 2 weeks and I was just wondering what the situation is with flying beasts (Mozzies & Wasps)??
we went to Corfu last and Malta the year before and to be honest they were a nightmare, are they bad in Turkey???
Thanks in advance

No, they shouldnt be too bad as its really hot at the moment! maybe if it gets cooler!
They do have one or two flying ant day a year where there are jsut millions of them!
Also they do have the "bug spraying man" that goes round in his massive car with bug spray which does help!
Enjoy! very jealous about you going!
I love it there so you will
Have a great time!
Sarah
Cheers Sarah,im glad about that,i hate the things!!!
