I am 40 something and like relaxed resorts I liked Turunc very much Have a look at

http://www.turunc-village.com/turunc.htm
you can do a virtual tour of the village This gives you a really good idea of that the village is like.
The beach is nice, mainly sand though it can be a bit stony as you get into the water Nice shops and restaurants but nothing too frenetic in the way of nightlife. You are also very close to Icmeler and Marmaris if you want Akyaka, my favorite place (though not much in the way or shops or bars there but a fab beach) can be visited on a day trip and is only about half an hour away. The rose,Gozdem and burak have all been mentioned before as good places to stay and I know that Alfie has an apartment to rent there also.

hotel riviera alanya...opposite the sea near lots of shops and restaurants and an easy walk to the harbour if you want to see some nightlife.

I would recommend the small resort village of Cirali located 80kms south from Antalya. It has a great clean beach, small restaurants, and many family run hotels and pansiyons. It is more often known as Olympos because the ancient city of Olympos is located on the south end of the 4km beach. It is also the home of the "Chimaera or Yanartas " a great spot to visit at night with it's gas flames shooting out of the rocks. Cirali is a great spot for nature lovers and for those who want to get away from the busy resort cities and towns.

Maybe not an expert on all places in Turkey, we have been to quite a few and by far the best so far is Icmeler. Perhaps not the best beach (That is the Bodrum area), but for the best all round holiday and definately the best evenings it is Icmeler.

:D we found the best place to be is Kalkan, beautiful harbour, and lots of small and friendly restaurant, and hotels, Best beach is Patara which is the longest beach in turkey, proper sand not shingle, and of course all the ruins, we are back there in May, well worth a visit.

Im with roydouglas - Kalkan.

If you do a search here you will find loads of posts about Kalkan

It's Kalkan for me too. Back in May for three weeks. Incidentally, there are good flight deals with BA.

Must agree with previous posts and recommend both Turunc and Kalkan. Both fantastic resorts, and probably where I would go if given a choice, I'm sure you won't be dissappointed with either!

Hi Shirley- do you know who to book this Hotel Riveria with, or have a link for it? I checked the hotel reviews but it isn't listed. I am thinking of trying Alanya one year (mostly from reading all you have said about it ). would probably be next year, because this year is already booked up. is it fairly central? Sorry if i have gone a bit :offtop , thanks for any info, Heather.

hi jessie you might like to have a look at the a/i hotels in belek ,the hotels are located right on the beach which is very sandy and really nice, this is a reletivly new resort wich is about ten mins from the nearest town which is kadriye which has all the usuall shops restaurants market etc . from ther you can also get to antaliya and alanya ,we have stayed their twice last year ,and we are booked up twice this year , really nice hotels

Got to agree with Phil - Icmeler is the best.

Have been to Olu and by far prefer icmeler

Jessie,
for me Bitez. Laid back and relaxed, near to Bodrum for the shops etc.
good restaurants, beach is sand but a bit gritty and can be a bit crowded in the very middle. easy access to all the other resorts in the area by dolmus etc
Kalkan is nice too, but you must enjoy steep hills etc to walk around.

Sorry all you Icmeler fans but it's not for me, or Marmaris

dalyan,is my fave,it is enchanting, the beach is a ten minuite dolmus drive away but we didnt find this a problem, there is a real charm to the place, icmeler is ok and very popular with repeat bookers i have just come back from a week here however and noticed that there were a lot of english teenagers there, which suprised me as the night life is very limited, and icmeler used to usually attract older couples and families, bodrum is very n ice and the most european and upmarket of all the resorts in my opinion, the more upper class/rich turks holiday here allegedly and this is reflected in the prices, however there is a wonderful buzz about the place and it is not pretentious in the slightest, and ther are all sorts of little places you can easily visit by car or dolmus along the peninsula, but i stand by dalyan as being my number one spot and cant see how anybody could have a negative word to say about the place.
