Could anybody please tell me what St Maarten is like.
I am looking at maybe booking to go beginning of June next year.
Weather, cost of food and drink, etc. Is it a nice place?
Also is the flight long from London?
Thanks so much.

There aren't any non-stop flights from London (that I can remember). You'll have to route via Paris with Air France or Amsterdam with KLM. If you go with BA / Virgin, you'll have to catch a connecting flight from an adjacent Caribbean Island, eg Antigua, probably with Caribbean Airlines or Liat. The flight from Paris to St Maartin is approximately 9 hours.

Wow
Some people in Aruba that we spoke to said it was a lovely island. I've always thought it looks terrific the way the aircraft come in to land really low across one of the beaches there.
Do some reading about the island, it's really small, only 6 miles by 6 miles - you can get most places by taxi for about $6 per person. http://www.st-maarten.com/index.php/en/island-info
When we dock it's in Philipsburg, which is on the Dutch side, a busy town good for shopping, tons of jewelry and souvenir stores. over on the French side the capital town of Marigot is good for upscale shopping and restaurants.
The airport at Maho beach is what Crockett is referring to - this is where you will land-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za2GlaeHz3U it's a must to go to the beach and feel the blast.. then go here http://www.sxmboatbar.com/location.html
Have you been to any Caribbean islands? The main attraction is the beautiful beaches, HOT weather, Caribbean lifestyle and there is of course plenty of night life.
Check out reviews of hotels on http://www.Tripadvisor.com and there are probably some reviews on this site if you search.
Edit- the site will not allow the video of people on Maho beach watching planes come into land.
Go to You t... (rhymes with Rube) site and put Maho Beach in the search box, you'll find lots.
