it was open the other day when i passed
Thanks will defo be paying a visit to stock up
Yep went past it today and it's still there.
hubby will be none too pleased when i visit will be spending loads
well there is one on the Av De Castello road.just off the beach.if hit macdonalds you have gone to far.its the opening just before that.or the next one up if you start from macs.little supermarket on corner and a estate agents as well.on left hand side.keep on that side its there.
I'm not good with street names, but if you know where the Wine Barrel shop is, just down by the side of the hotel Villa de Benidorm on the corner of Avda Mediterraneo, if you cross over the Avda Mediterraneo by the Pelican crossing just outside the Wine Barrel and go down by the side of the "Cafe OK" which is painted blue on the corner"¦.. the shop is down this street on the right hand side....heading for the promenade.
This shop is absolutely wonderful, it's packed with soap stamped from Provence de Marseille and for anybody who knows about soap, they will know French soap is triple milled and expensive.
They have every "flavoured" soap you could imagine, they are infused with either essential oils or flores (compressed bits of flowers).
I bought a bar of flores Lavender to use whilst in Benidorm and the bits do come out when the soap wears down, so if you don't like bits floating around your bath water, then I would stick to the soaps infused with essential oils"¦.they are both as strong as each other. The bars of soap cost 2 euros each.
The reason why I've resurrected this topic is to mention that they sell the best hand made soap in the world, which is stamped "ALEP" from Aleppo in Syria, with the Royal insignia guaranteeing the quality of each bar.
It's made from pure olive oil and Laurel extract and it contains no artificial anything"¦.. No added chemicals or animal fats.
It doesn't smell particularly nice, well not like the artificial chemical loaded scented stuff on supermarket shelves, it has a distinctive smell whilst you use it, but the smell is not left on your skin and the lather is luxurious, the soap is brown/olive in colour and if you cut the soap in half, inside is green, and it's hard wearing "rock hard" compressed soap.
But, it is so gentle and moisturising that you can use it on babies, shave with it, wash your hair with it, and for anyone who suffers with dry skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, IMO it's just fantastic.
I suffer with dry/sensitive skin and I sometimes have eczema break out on my elbows, so I thought I'd give it a try and I bought two bars of this soap at €4.90 each bar, and I've used it every day since we got back from Benidorm.
I thought I'd share this with you because I'm well impressed and won't use anything else now"¦..it's only taken me 50 years to find something that doesn't make me want to rip my skin off after using it,
Whilst you can find suppliers on the internet, I've noticed that some of the bars are not as big as those I bought in Benidorm, and then you've got P&P to add onto the order......so, if you're interested in this soap, then it's worth getting it in Benidorm and I think it's a good excuse to go back for supplies, if the shop stays open.

sanji do you think i would be able to take some home in my hand luggage as that is all i am takeing when out for 3 days in june
oooh thanks for that Sanji - i'm definitely going to get some of the ALEP soap that you've explained about. I suffer with dry skin and mild eczema so this sounds ideal. I'm off to Benidorm, 3wks this Sat ( ) so i hope that a) the shop is still there and b) i can find it!

Hi Fatboy
TBH: I wasn't sure if having a few bars of soap would be a problem, so I didn't want to say yeah or nay and have them take it off you......I asked in the flight forum and Darren replied......
You shouldn't have a problem there as it's not a prohibited item and not classed as a liquid or gel. You can take solid soap onboard the aircraft and you aren't limited to one bar.
Sanji
God i wish i had know about the soap you mentioned am not going again this year but going back in March will defo get some wonder if it will ease my hubbys prickly heat ? I love the scented soap and bought 30 bars back and had no problem with them in my luggage.
thanks sanji for your help once again i will have to get 1 or2 bars when there to bring home for the wife thanks again
We import Aleppo Soap from Syria and always have a few dozen bars in stock.
We stock it in the extra large 260g bars, the 200g bars, also the smaller 150g and 100g versions.
Our local Dermatology hospital department send eczema and psoriasis sufferers to us to try the soap, we have had hundreds upon hundreds of very satisfied customers.
Aleppo can also be used to shave with and to wash your hair.
I just got back from Benidorm and couldn't find this shop anywhere, after asking a few locals they were under the impression it has closed down. Was a bit disappointed cos I love hand made soaps
Hope it has not shut down so looking forward to stock up in March
