There is a forum that's aimed specifically at Luxor and I reckon you will probably get a more definitive answer if you visit that one. (You do have to register as a member to read forum posts if I recall correctly). Have a look at http://www.luxor4u.com - there are some parts of the forum that are for visiting as a holidaymaker and others for those who live there on a permanent basis. I'm sure they will be able to help you....
