Hi, this is my first time on this site. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they've used mixmytrip.com to book their flights. I want to book a flight from Ankara to London and this site offers the cheapest rates. However, I'm wondering if it's too good to be true!
Hope somebody can help me.
There are various versions, .com priced in dollars and .co.uk priced in pounds, (and Irish and Hungarian if you were so inclined) all show a "contact us" address in the small town of Zug in Switzerland. But the site is registered to a travel agency in Budapest called Travelcity. So why would a Hungarian company run this business from Switzerland? Well one reason may be that Switzerland isn't EU so the EU package regulations wouldn't apply if you did Mix your Trip! And Google Maps shows a list of 56 companies in all sorts of business registered to that little office in Switzerland - screams tax fiddle to me.
Since Jet2 were advertising on the site I did a Manchester- Budapest enquiry and the price it offers is no better than booking on the Jet2 site. To proceed you have to click to say you've read the fare rules but when I tried that page is blank, obviously the important rule here is that with Jet2 luggage is probably not included in the price quoted.
All in all, I'd say stick to those you know. Try http://www.skyscanner.net for ideas of airlines and prices and then follow the links to the actual airlines to book.
What a great site this is!! PS Is lastminute.com ok? I've never used them before!
lastminute are a big name in the game and as reliable as any other (regular readers can make up your own jokes!). For flight only they shouldn't be a problem but not guaranteed cheapest. Some people who have booked flight+hotel have had issues (possibly down to lack of experience) when hotels have been sub contracted to other agencies. But others have used the Secret Hotel service and got genuine bargains. As with any company, don't get mesmorised by the headline price, read the terms carefully.
Will do. Many thanks!!
