We've been to Turkey a few times over the last 23 years:
Altinkum in 1988
Side in 1990
Alanya in 1994
Yalikavak in 1995
Turgutreis in 1998 and again in 2008
We really like Turgutreis, the 'village' atmosphere, the beach, the restaurants and love getting a dolmus to other villages and into Bodrum.
I'm looking again at Turkey for this June.
We don't want somewhere too commercialised and don't want wild bars, bingo, karaoke and places doing Sunday lunches.
Can anyone suggest a similar place to Turgutreis please.
Or does anyone have any details of studios available in Turgutreis?
I've been trawling the web and it seems to be the same hotels coming up:
Club Cherry
Cemre
Aydem
If we stay in Turgutreis, we want to be within walking distance of the village - and that goes for any resort we choose.
Am I being too picky?
Thanks
ive seen private rentals in Turgetries , how many going and i look for you, what about Icmeler old village for a change
There's 2 adults and we don't mind basic as long as it's clean.
Looking to go either late May, coming back before 14th June or anytime after 14th June (special birthday on 14/6 so we have to be in the UK on that date).
I've not heard of Icmeler Old Village, I always assumed that Icmeler was touristy.
Perhaps I ought to google it.
Dalyan may be a better bet. The main street through the resort is geared up for tourists (but not over the top) but away from here theres a good mix of holidaymakers and locals going about their day to day lives and a real traditional feel to the resort.
sorry yes Icmeler is touristy
icmeler is touristy, the old village is hardly a village as such just more of a residential area where a lot of ex pats reside however it is quiet and scenic.Turgurtries is touristy to a point i remember seeing a fish and chip english owned cafe in the "bazaar" and english breakfasts are widley available plusare there not are a few loud music/boys dancing on bars type places nutters comes to mind is that place still going?I think you will find dalyan charming and unspoilt (thus far).Gumusuluk (sorry i think thats spelt wrong)is also supposed to be lovely and is very popular with the turks, turunc is stunning unspoilt and friendly i think if you like turgutries you would love turunc, and icmeler is a lovely place with lots and lots of positive points but it is a resort and only a resort thriving for six months then basically shut for six months apart from the few bars thet remain open to provide the ex/pat community with quiz nights and bingo etc,
Thanks, but i've already looked at Alpharooms (and a lot of similar sites).
Alpharooms are showing the Cemre, Club Cherry & Aydem, which are the ones coming up on most sites.
There is the Sunny Garden Nilufer (too far out of Turgutreis although it does sound nice ), and most of the rest are expensive 4 & 5* All Inclusive which is definitely not what we're looking for.
I HAVE found one that might be interesting - Sky Sea Hotel - but I'm not exactly sure where it is so I'll dig a bit deeper into that.

thanks for the suggestion, we've not stayed in Dalyan, although we did visit the Lycian tombs (not sure where from though).
I'll take a look at what accommodation is on offer.
Regards
the metin hotel in dalyan is wonderful the food is to die for all turkish dishes made with fresh produce, it is in a central position for the river/town etc and the breakfasts are served on a roof terrace with views of the tombs it is charming.we booked through travel republic and got a very reasonable deal good luck i hope you find what you are looking for.
All three are very laid back, Dalyan being the liveliest but Akyaka and Turunc both within easy journeys of Marmaris for shopping or more nightlife. There are taxi boats hourly from Turunc to Marmaris and Icmeler.
Wherever you choose have a great holiday!
I'd actually decided to go back to Turgutreis and had found accomm & good flights and just wanted the OH's OK to go ahead and book when he said 'How about Croatia?'.
Well, that came right out of left field and threw me totally so I put it all on the back burner.
So...
we've decided to go to Crete!
Never been before and found a good deal.
I'll definitely make a note of Turunc, Dalyan & Akyaka for future years though.
Thanks again.
