We always take a minimum amount of Aussie dollars with us to start the holiday and then just use the ATMs as and when needed. Probably do get a better rate out there.

I took out a Caxton Global Card after reading the views of one of the Mods on here who used it You simply load it before leaving, then use any ATM in Australia, Last week we were getting about1.60 AU$ to the £ which was pretty good and no charges added. Just google it if you want any information. We'le certainly make it our preferred method, for our trips in future.
