Hi I'm Claire and my hubby has agreed to us having our 1st holiday abroad as a family.
Soooooo excited I can't tell you!
Anyway I don't know where to go, was going to pick Menorca but i get the impression it's a bit sedate.
So I've been looking at Tenerife, Playa Americas.
There's me and hubby (we are in our 30's - 40's but are not old fuddies!
Kids are (will be at the time) 13 and 12.
I'm looking for somewhere slightly lively, but not keeping you up half the night with music and commotion.
And not full of piss heads and full of teenagers swearing (if you get my drift, don't mind the odd one though)
Some where close to amenities and beach.
I was looking at Parque Santiago 3, price seams ok. This is with Direct Holidays their prices seam ok.
What is the weather like in end July / August (summer holidays)
Do you get air conditioning?
I would really like some info, what do you guys think? Or can you suggest somewhere else.
I haven't got a clue what I'm doing, just winging it really!!
Thanks in advance
Hi Claire and welcome to HT, I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice on here. Personally I didn't like Playa de las Americas. It's very commercialised, and very British. Depending on exactly where you stay, you could run into many a lager lout I'm afraid We prefer places that have kept their own identity, and that are more traditional resorts.

Welcome Claire ... a browse of our PARQUE SANTIAGO 3 topic may help you decide if this complex is for you.

I personally think its an excellent choice, have been going for 20 odd years and love Tenerife, it has everything you would want for a family holiday.
Beautiful beaches, plenty of watersports, lovely walks, excellent restaurants of every nationality you could wish for, very smart shops in the Safari shopping centre just at the back of PS 3, loads of activities for your children such as whales & dolphin boat trips from the harbour at Los Cristianos, Siam Park with artificial beach and wave machine is biggest and best water park in Europe, Jungle Park at back of Los Cristianos with free flying birds of prey, or day trip up Mount Teide, highest volcanic moutain in Spain, day trip to neighbouring island of La Gomera, I could go on and on, you would not be bored.
Obviously in summer there will be younger people around than in the winter months but there is no reason for it to be noisy where you are thinking of staying. Any other questions just ask.
Thank you for your replies.....but we've now decided to go to Ibiza instead.
