As for the rest of it,yes specific answers would be helpful but at the same time do you not think that the entire forum by it's very nature will naturally digress,and rapidly?
Speaking from my own point of view if it didn't then i doubt i would even come on here,there's a hundred forums/websites online where i can find a basic answer to a basic question,mostly but just going onto TA reviews and looking at popularity charts etc,but people come on here knowing,if not even HOPING to get a discussion on whatever they're asking,that's surely why we seek out an online community in the first place....even if i am only typical of 10% of posters that would be a lot of people to lose through a more regimented format.
No doubt this further response will go against what you were hoping would happen so apologies if it's an over elaboration, but the rambling nature of these threads and the strong opinions people tend to voice make this place what it is.
I suppose the way to choose the right the right place/board/location for you is to ask what made you decide you want to come back to Greece? People, sites, food, walking, scenery, will you hire a car, beach holiday only?
I posted the above, which I believe is constructive. Without knowing any more of their requirements other than AI, which may not be the best optionfor them, depending on their other interests/needs. I would doubt many would suit as they seem to want some fine dining too, which doesn't happen at many AIs in Greece.
If they want a more upmarket hotel resort where they can do AI as an option, then I would say take a look at this one,

It is close to where I live, expensive, but in a wonderful area full of sites & places to see, so I would recommend getting out there to experience it.
I also have to comment that there have been many people, not on here that I know of, but elsewhere, that originally asked about AI as that is what they kept seeing in some of the mainstream brochures (& ALL you will see from First Choice for 2012). Once they read of other people's experiences, ideas & advice they chose not to do AI, & what's more they returned to say thankyou as well! They saw so much & relaxed among locals, an experience they realised they wouldn't have otherwise had as (in the words of one very grateful family) one of the 'wristband wearing brigade'.
If the OP comes back with some more info on likes & dislikes it may be they would be fine in an AI, but being armed with all the info is the only way to make the right choice.
Graham, I agree with you, I offered to Pat (the OP) that Thomson were offering 5* hotels in various parts of Greece and was 'shot down in flames' IMO by Wizzard.

Wizard did nothing of the sort,he pointed out the very real fact that thomson's ratings system give the impression of a hotel being 5* when it's infact '5T', thomson's own rating, if anything Wizard was being helpful in pointing that out so anyone who is planning to book is aware of the difference.
