why don't you try one of the canary islands, tenerife is pretty warm at this time of year with bars still open.
Depends of course on your budget if you wanted to go further affield what about the Carribean almost guaranteed heat and depends on what country you select I sure there will be plenty to see/explore - or perhaps a cruise - all those different sights and only unpacking once

Well I'd go to Egypt .. Not sure about interesting sights on the Red sea but if you want sun, sunbed and the beautiful Red sea to snorkel or explore then temps will be very good. You can do the excursions to luxor or cairo but it's a flight or a long coach journey . How about looking at luxor itself.

Thx all for those interesting suggestions. Still pondering whether to go away now or wait until March/April but you've certainly given me food for thought.

If I wasnt diving then one of the Canary Islands would be my choice...we used to take the kids every year at that time to escape the winter blues and the mad run up to xmas..
Does your budget stretch to long haul? - If so, my suggestion would be Cuba... Havana in particular...
