Hi, My family and I (kids aged 16,14 and 10 and husband) are going to Jeslo for 2 weeks in July. We are staying in a cabin on a camp site as it seems so expensive for a family of 5 to do a hotel in Italy. We are hiring a car for the full 2 weeks and hope to go to Rome and Pisa at the very least.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience of travelling from Venice area, this far afield. I would like to know if it would be better to get trains, if so , what would the cost of this be for a family of 5? Also, if we decide to stay overnight can anyone recomend anywhere?
I have heard that the ques for the VAtican City are pretty long, so any advice about times to get there etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all. :cheers, Splodge02.x
Try http://www.trenitalia.com and change it to English to get routes and prices for the trains. Your train ticket will get you on the metro and buses in Rome. We found Rome very easy to get around on foot.
We didn't find the queues for the Vatican too bad, but there were long queues to get inside the Sistine Chapel. The best time to go is early morning.
You can pre-book tickets on various sites

The Colosseum is another place you might want to pre-book if you want to go inside.
Thanks for that, it really helps. I will seriously consider booking online in advance.
