Thomas cook is next door and if they say they wont match it I tell them I will go to TC.
Last year TC had Thomson holidays on their website and they price matched the web price.
The £10 charge is just another way of extracting money!
I usually use an Independent travel agent like Hays who are always cheaper than both the other two but sometimes they sell a dynamic package which we pay an extra £10 for supplier failure cover.

Some agents such First Choice, Thomson and Virgin Holidays stores going by their company policy are supposed to charge, you may have to pay a service fee of £10 per person or £15 per booking even if the agent offers a price match for the actual holiday, however a lot of the shops don't charge for this, I know the shop we regularly use don't charge us, we just go in tell them the web price, they check it and it's sorted.
It would be worth asking them to wave the fee for a confirmed booking there and then
Our local Thomson/First Choice shop matches the web price as well
booking on line is fine, that's how i do mine and always been ok, you print out the ticket/evoucher that they sent in your email..
Don't worry about booking on line- we did last year with thomas cook (Direct holidays), they email you confirmation- and post your tickets 4 weeks prior to travelling.

We have also recently booked our next holiday with them to Mexico, and before they had a chance to mention the extra cost of £20pp, I said that I wasn't prepared to pay it ....... they didn't charge us!! My son also booked his holiday to Mexico last week, he wasn't charged either.
IMO I think it depends on the shop and also who serves you.

We always get internet price match too. they used to charge £10 per person, but we book quite a few hols a year and they match
Ok then I will not be paying an admin fee then! Thanks :-)
The one thing they are right about though- they do have to deal with all the correspndence and the problems with changes. You do need to be prepared to do all that yourself.
hi...when Ive wanted a price match I take a screen print of all the details...hand it over saying thats what I want...but would sooner book with the shop if it costs no me no more...last time was about £5 differece when she did it...was 4 of us going...I accepted that...as worth the £5 to be able to have face to face contact localy in the event of any problems...tweetie
People want all the benefits of a high street travel agent, but dont want to stump up that little bit extra to pay for the more personal service with the staff.
If you book on-line & made any minor errors (or even major ones) you are on your one & need to sort it for yourself.
I did something recently where I had put down the wrong title for someone who was a Miss and either I or the computer system listed them as Mrs.
I had absoulutely no idea if it was an important error or not, but didn't feel I could ignore it & as I had booked on line, had to make all the calls/sort it myself.
I see people on here moan that they have booked a thomas cook/thomson holiday on line something goes wrong & they go into a TC/TUI store & complain that they wont help them. Personally I dont blame the shop as you have cut them out of the equasion.
I usually print off details of the holiday and take it to Thomson shop, they have always matched the it without any aditional cost. I like to use the shop as I can speak to someone face to face if I have any queries. Also I like to think I am helping to keep the shops on the high street and someone in a job
I have booked on line but still panic about all the details you have to print off, the 1st time I got E tickets, I thought , is this flimsy piece of paper the real thing? I still like getting my tickets through the post in its little booklet
