Hi
Can anyone tell me what kind of weather to expect in the Maldives in september?
We are going to the Maldives in September and We're expecting sun with rain. The weather in the Maldives is very hard to predict, we went in June before and had 1 week of rain and 1 week of sunshine.
It can also vary from island to island and as most forecasts are taken from Male, these are useless, as it could be rain in Male and sunshine on your island.
My advice would be just book it, don't worry about the weather, as the Maldives are amazing come rain or shine and you will have a fantastic time, whichever month you go in

thanks for your reply, i'll be on the Yasawa princess for 2 weeks so hopefuly as it moves about we may miss some rain.
Maldives is a first time for me and after 11 years of Goa and all the garbage there hopefully this will tick my boxes

You will love it there - though i went in feb - there was the odd storm but it was lovely - really refreshing and was a real novelty having an open air shower whilst storm going over
Maldives is an all year round destination. havent been there but researched a lot. It is quite an expensive one. Though we hope to go there soon. This is how the weather is in maldives throughout the year.
Months----------------DAMN (Dec-Apr / May-Nov)
Monsoon--------------NESW (North-East / South-West)
Above can be understood as:
NE monsoon from Dec to April and SW monsoon from May to Nov.
Best marine life is found on East and West side resorts of islands during South East and North West monsoon respectively.
We would prefer to go in January which is one of the best times.
Hope that helps all!

I went last September and am off again (to a different island) in just over 2 weeks time. September does have some rain, but they tend to be short, heavy burst then back to blue skies. It depends which part of the Maldives you're travelling to but regardless of the time of year, temperatures are pretty much constant, it's just a question of whether it's slightly wetter or not. The marine life is amazing so you'll probably spend half your time wet with swimming, snorkelling or diving anyway!
