Polly, if you look further down the topics, there is one similar to your own. The advice given was NOT to bother with Travellers Cheques.

Forget TC's - cash is by far the best (or CC)

We went to Antalya in December 2012. I couldnt find any banks (even HSBC) that were prepared to cash TC's. In the end I had to use an ATM. I cashed the TC's in M and S when I came back to the UK. My advice take cash.

Sorry I have to disagree, we went to Olu in September 2012 and had no trouble changing travellers cheques at all....
