Having holidayed in Pissouri Cyprus for the past 11 years as my family own 2 properties here I am saddened to report repeated attacks on our children by some of the local youths in the village. In previous years we had dismissed this as child's play but during this summer break my 14 year old son and his friend have been set upon on the local sports pitch, our quiet 17 year old son has had a double barrelled shot gun pointed at him outside a local bar. As adults we have enjoyed a very good relationship with the local people and have made some close Cypriot friends, who are disgusted by recent events.
There is a very sinister undercurrent displayed by some of the local youths, which we have noticed, is becoming more common on this visit, so much so, that we (17 in total) are now reluctant to frequent the village in the evenings. If you are considering visiting this picturesque Cypriot village and have children, please beware.
Fantastic for the older generation though.

We've seen nothing of this in any of the local news in Cyprus...
The incident was reported to the police and is currently under investigation.
And apparently, it seems that it does kick off from time to time between the local youths fighting and falling out with the tourists. This is reported from a lady who has lived there for 25 years....
