Have reached a compromise as we couldn't decide where to go. A 'posh' afternoon tea for my birthday and then 4 nights in March at Disneyland Paris; Mickey and Paris all in one holiday 
Great choice Paris!! A eurostar trip to Paris can be a perfect short-haul city break. January is fairly good.
Dubai can be a superb option! Besides, you will be able to grab some great bargains!
Though its not that Short-haul but a mid-haul destination!

Oh yes!! It was just a suggestion. Paris is a beautiful city nonetheless.
