Following on from 'speedos' in my sunbathing techniques thread I wondered if anyone else give nicknames to fellow guests?
This year we had 'Speedos' due to his choice of maximum tan swimwear.
Trish, a lady who was the pot model of my friends sister.
Galoot, he was a big Swedish looking bloke, who got on my nerves at the melon counter. I was standing behind him waiting my turn to get a piece of melon when he went through every slice on the plate whilst he chose the best 10 slices. as I returned to the table I said to my hubby that I'd have been 10 mins quicker if I hadn't have to wait for this big Galoot to pick his melon. So Galoot he became.
Ralph. Hubby chose the name Ralph for an oldish bloke with silver hair and mohogany tan. Who came to dinner each evening in pink trousers. He became Ralph Lauren. ('Ralph' was also in the room opposite ours on the other side of the pool. Each evening, after his shower he'd stand naked on the balcony )
Clout. This was a young Spanish family, mam, dad and two little girls. One evening one of the little girls knocked a bottle of water over on the dining table flooding her father's, just filled up plate, with water. He shouted at her then gave her a smack, so he became Clout.
Is it just us and my friends who attach nicknames to people on holiday whose names we don't know?
We always have nicknames for people, last holiday there was a man who looked just like Norris off Corrie, we called them Norris and Neris. a young couple who were holidaying for a month were called 30days and a fella that splashed me and my friend whist we were by the pool was called a name I couldn't repeat on here. And his wife who wandered around topless but with a see -through kaftan on was called Yuk !
There were two old biddies from Paris who we christened Gert and Daisy. There were a gay couple who confusingly were both called Jean! Gert and Daisy got very confused by this and spent the whole day referring to the two chaps as 'The brothers' (Les Freres) which was even more confusing as when did you last come across brothers both called John?
It was a brilliant day in which we had to listen, think and speak in French all day, we were exhausted when they dropped us back in Menton!
