Driving from the NE of Scotland to Devon with 3 youngsters and a hound (no wife jokes please!)
Can anybody recommend a nice village/rest stop just off the motorway maybe somewhere just south of Manchester/Liverpool turn offs? I'd prefer to avoid service stations, find a nice wee village, give the dog a nice run and have as civilised a lunch as you can with 3 young'uns!
Lyme in Cheshire is pretty. We drive from Glasgow to Portsmouth most years for a cross channel ferry and have stopped there in the past.
I think you mean Lymm elaine? Yes nice village, nice pub and Lymm dam to walk the dog around

I do mean Lymm. Stupid autocorrect.
Cheers
I know it is a service station but Tebay services is not your run of the mill place. Poosibly the best motorway service station in the country. Certainly the only 1 where I would entertain eating!
Tebay services are wonderful but much further north than pierre545 as looking for.
I'll bear it in mind though. Hopefully kids will still be settled then, but it gives me options - thanks!
Didn't stop at Lymm this time, but thanks for the tip.
