Michelle, I take all our ( mine and hubby's) medication in the hand luggage, including having them in those plastic dispensers and also a back up supply just in case we ever we get caught with a delay due to a major incident....learnt the lesson during the ash cloud incident.
I also take a photo copy of our prescriptions.
I've never had any problems whatsoever at the airport, they've just been scanned (including the plastic dispenser) with what ever else is in my bag.
