We always took the view that the world is too small to go anywhere twice until we went to a campsite in France that someone recommended to us and we have been there 8 out of the last 9 summers. My eldest is currently applying to work there next summer.
In between times as a family we have been to Turkey, Florida, New England, London, Yorkshire Dales and Alton Towers, York, Perthshire and Fife. Hubby and I have been to Dubrovnik, Malta and Krakow.

In 40 years of travelling abroad,we have never returned to exactly the same place; same country/island maybe but usually with a gap of several years between. Just looking at my diary, we have visited 18 different countries with multiple destinations/islands.
