We have been looking for sometime to buy a property abroad, was looking at Spain but prices have gone very high.
Has anyone purchased in Northern Cyprus, we have been doing research, so understand the history of the area.
Property appears to be very reasonable, but do you actually own the land that your Villas is built on?
I understand that we must do plenty of research, and my Husband is going to visit the area soon, any help would be appreciated.
What would be the best areas to look at?
Thanks,
Kaz.
we are currently having a villa built in Esentepe, about a 20 minute drive from kyrenia(Girne)
The only real safe way to buy over there is on a pre 1974 turkish cypriot title deed. Most are sold on 'exchange title deeds' whereas the turkish cypriots exchanged their land in the south for greek cypriot land in the occupied areas.Considered safe by many but only a settlement of the 2 populations will let us all find out.
There a properties with the pre 74 deeds but they are very few and far between, click on this link, the 3rd villa down

Good luck with your search
What made you choose this area of Northern Cyprus?
What other areas are popular?
Can you offer any tips on flights, as my Husband will be going over to look in the next few weeks.
Kaz.
Just make sure that you do not purchase any thing built on protected land (land still regesterd to christian cypriot families or you could find yourselves loosing the lot (and possibly any thing you own in any other part of the EEC) wait and see the result of on going litigation or be 100% certain you only buy if the land is fully regesterd to a muslim cypriot family...

We chose that area because it is still relatively unspoilt and is quite central to Kyrenia,Nicosia and the Karpaz peninsular.Esentepe is under going a bit of a refurb,a brand new marina is planned and a 5* hotel is due to be built and a 18 hole golf course.
As for flights we are flying into Larnaca on the 20th April and a bloke from the north is picking us up for 60 quid return, the reason being that you dont have to do a stopover in Turkey(no direct flights to TRNC from UK)
and you can bring loads of fags and booze back
