Hi all, Mrs Sliema 2 and I are thinking about possibly going to Gozo in November 2005 for a week, but is Gozo open to tourism at that time ie hotels etc ?, does the helicopter that transfers you still operate ?, do the ferries still operate as normal ?, and has anyone got any travel companies that they could reccomend that specialise in Gozo ?, I have a couple of companies in mind but I would be very interested to hear other peoples views.
Many thanks in advance
Sliema2
If you need any more info on this Island please let me know
Dave
PS it was the summer when we went there.
Hi Dave, thanks for your reply, I have got plenty of info about where to go, what to see, and which walks to do etc etc, what I am not sure of is the infrastructure and logistics at this time of year, in particular travelling around and most importantly being able to get from Luqa to Gozo safely and in good time and then back again for return flights without being delayed or even stranded, thanks for the tips on hotels that is something I will bear in mind if we end up doing a DIY holiday, if anyone else has other info about available hotels at that time of year, and transport links then all information will be gratefully received.
I haven't been over to Gozo in November but I know that there is still a regular ferry service as I can see them from the window of the apartment that we stay in. If the crossing is very rough though then they will cancel! as what happened around last November.
The new helicopter service should be running throughout the winter period but I don't think it will be as frequent.
Enjoy your break!
It looks as if the helicopter link will be open in November

I think you will find that most hotels in Gozo stay open all the year around especially the big posh ones. We had a wedding invite in Gozo the December before last so it was a good excuse to stay for a few days at the St. Patricks in Xlendi. It is only a little hotel, just a restuarant and bar, and a tiny roof top pool,( no indoor pool or fitness club etc.) but it is in a smashing position, good food, clean and reasonable priced. We had a valley view suite which was nice, as are the seaview, but the "courtyard view" rooms looked a bit dark.

The Andar was open when we went
http://www.digigate.net/andar/info.htm if you want to check if it will in fact be open in November.
We were lucky and did not have any problems with the ferry in December, obviously it still runs in the winter, it is only when the sea is too rough that it is cancelled, I'm not sure how often this occurs. http://www.gozochannel.com may give you some info.
BTW - shame you had to edit your Maltese language bits from your posts I was enjoying your "Good Day" "Good health" "see you later" etc
Hi Mark & Nicky & Ingliza, thanks for your replies, yes I was dissapointed about my Malti being edited, but you know how much some people in the uk struggle to speak there own language never mind trying to understand someone elses.

this has been excellent in the last three years - any questions, just ask.
ps ferry is stopped by the weather maybe 2-3 days a year by the weather, and even then not for the full day - its only when its very windy AND the wind comes from a certain direction
OK, I admit, Gozo can be a litle quiet in November ! But there are still loads of restaurants open - stretching it a little, in late- October,/ early November, the Mediterranea cultural week happens this has been excellent in the last three years - any questions, just ask.

Oh yes, the helicopter company has said that on the odd occasion that the ferry doesn't work they will increase the service, and fly from Gozo to Cirkewwa (the ferry terminal Malta side) at a discounted rate, so you would only get stranded if the weather was so bad neither the helicopter nor the ferry could run ! Even then, you would get a few days notice of such weather approaching
