In a very brief summurary....

Ibiza Town - Evissa (Capital) is a very chique city with a real bohimian atmpshere throughout of the day and into the evening. It has an excellent reputation for resturants and tapas bars in the winding streets of the old town. Very colourful nightlife, often influenced by the large gay community. It is probably the best part of the island for lively nightlife that can mix with young children.

Santa Eulalia - Very sedate with a superb and large beach in the centre of town. Good shopping and an entire street of resturants. No lively nightlife here, just low key bars with light or no entainment. Great Catalan atmosphere throughout.

Es Cana, very British family resort, medium in size with a lively Brit nightlife. Plently of family friendly atmopshere and generally very friendly. Not much of a Spanish feel to the place. Great beach with watersports.

Cala Longa, better for people who are really after a beach holiday and thats about it, quite a small resort, not too many shops although a good few bars and cafes. Large and very clean beach though.

Portinatx, very much like Cala Longa actually however some impressive scenary as its overlooked by some impressive hillsides.

San An. Like Es Cana but not as nice. Stay away from places like the West End, its pretty appalling.

Hope you have a fantasic holiday where ever you choose.

Everywhere that I look on these and similar forums the implication is that that Santa Eulalia (the third largest town on the island) is a sleepy hollow with nothing much happening.

Sure it is quieter than Ibiza Town or San Antonio but it has a sophisticated air about it at a reasonable cost.

The town buzzes during the day with tourists rubbing shoulders with Spanish residents going about their daily business. There is excellent shopping, banks and supermarkets all over the town and the paseo d'almera which runs from the town hall to the beach has a craft market every day. The beach area which is large and clean and runs the complete length of the town is packed with restaurants and bars where you can eat a menu del dia for under ten euros while sunning yourself in front of a beautiful ocean view. There are also live bands and entertainment in front of the town hall over many evenings throughout the summer months.

Restaurant street always gets mentioned, but what is not mentioned is that that there are also restaurants to satisfy every taste throughout the town along with late night Spanish bars that don't even open until midnight.

The marina is probably the most beautiful on the island and is crammed with restaurants and bars many of which open late - for example Liquido is a chillout lounge which opens until at least 2:00 am every night and Guarana which has top class deejays and bands is open until 6:00 am.

It is also perfectly placed for trips to just about anywhere on the island be it clubs, countryside or the capital city. If you want banal Blackpool style British entertainment for the kids then even that can be found in the many hotels around the town such as The Orquidea or Don Carlos.

To sum up: if you are looking with a wide variety of activities to suit every taste in one area then you can't go wrong with Santa Eulalia.
