I have heard some mixed reports about the Hotel Messonghi Beach and the reviews on this site are from 2 years ago!
Does anyone know anything about it? I have heard bad things about the smell (hence the nickname 'pongi messonghi'), the entertainment and the fact that the english people are not treated as well as everyone else. These all seem to be the most recent! It's not looking good!
I'd love to hear from anyone who can help!
Thanks x
Also known as Mess-on-the-beach. It's very old this hotel and basically like Butlins abroad is the best was I could describe it or Butlins in The sun. They even have shallets and bungalows. God I hope this hotel has been refurbished since I was there in1987. It was ready for pulling down then!
Yes I was in a neighbouring hotel in 1985 and it was described as Butlins then. I remember people saying the rooms had no hot water for a couple of hours every day.
I know this is probably a long shot, but I am trying to find a hotel in Messonghi I stoped in about 15 years ago. It was called something like Yannis Loulas Taverna. I would like to go back to stay but I cannot find it in any guide books, and I was wondering if you lot could help me.
Thanks Hunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my sister went there and she didn't have a good word to say about it, that was a few years ago though
went in 2000, although we found the kids entertainment to be mainly in german but overall we had a good time, there is 4 pools to choose from and its situated right on the beach, with plenty of watersports. the room was basic, but kept clean by daily maid service. shops ,bars + restaurants all within 10 minute stroll. didnt have any problems with pongy smells!!. i would definately consider going back sometime.
If you have already booked, go and talk to your travel agent and ask if they have have had any feedback from thier clients?
Hope you do have a good holiday
as regards the pongi, just put a towel over the drain in the shower, as this seems to drain into the same sewer as the toilets.
is the boat trip still running from the jetty on the beach
We went to Messonghi 2 years ago. Tis true - all of the food and entertainment is centred around the Germans. No smells though, and we prefered the 'chalet' rooms. We loved the resort - lots of swimming pools etc. During the evening, we tended to venture out. On the door step there is Georges bar (he makes brits very welcome and is open till the early hours!) and La Luna - a bar with kids playground etc. Fab time was had by all.
