I wander what would happen if you had Sky installed in the UK but informed them that you do not have a landline telephone?

Any comments from our Director of Sky TV will be appreciated

That is a very good question.

If they said no then that is discrimination against somebody who does not wish to have a phone, I would have thought.

This is a grey area. there is a lot of debate on the satellite forums about this currently as Sky are now refusing to install if the subscriber does not have a land line. All subscribers MUST sign the 'BIB' agreement and as part of which it states that the digibox must remain connected to the phone line for a period of 12 months. The words Shoot and Foot spring to mind here.

Sky are also currently send warning letters to UK subscribers stiill within their 12 month contract stating unless they plug the digibox back in they (and i quote the letter) "risk" their subscription service being turned off.

Clear as mud in my opinion.
:?
You dont need it plugged into the phone if you dont subscribe to Sky.

Hmmm! makes me think that if you agreed with Sky and signed a contract but due to circumstances beyond one's control the land line was discontinued for whatever reason. Would Sky stop providing you with a service even though you still paid the subscription charge???

If this has happened to anyone I would seriously consider a small claims action against Sky TV for monies paid.

Small claims would not bear fruit as you have signed a contract.

Howeveer Sky are in it to make money, which is where the debate comes in to play. Do they cut their own nose to spite the face or do they turn a blind eye and continue to reep the monthly subscription?

Worringly with the letters going out to non complient contracted subscribers who have disconnected the phone line withing the 12 month contracted period it seems they ARE cutting their own nose.

This is widely rumoured to be due to the forthcumming "loyality channels" due to be launched by the main broadcasters - Extra channels for those most loyal to their channel. How do they know who watches Living TV (example only) most often without the phone line being connected to their digibox???

The sky card logs your channel hopping preffs and then sneds them over the phone to Sky for their own analysis etc.

Big brother IS watching you!

Does anyone know if sky plus works out on the costa del sol?

I reckon the reason why it's illegal to have SKY abroad, is something to do with SKY paying for exclusive rights to some of the football games.

I still don't see what actual harm it does. They still get their money from you! Like someone else said, I can't believe they acutally pay people to hunt SKY's f r a u d s e r s out to cut them off and loose the £100's worth in subsciption money.

I wonder if SKY sell their subsciptions to other companies abroad, for them to sell on?

(had to post f r a u d s t e r s in spaces at it's edited!)
