On the 1st of August 1798 the 120 gun,2000 tonne L'Orient, Napoleon's flag ship was blown to bits by Lord Nelson at the battle of the Nile.
The sound could be heard 32Klm away at Rosetta, so what has this to do with Malta, well on board was all the loot that Napoleon had stolen from Malta.
Does anybody know if any of it has ever been found? and if so were is it?
French archaeologist Frank Goddio's team began surveying L'Orient three years ago, discovering a treasure trove of gold, silver and copper coins, canons, cutlery and navigational and surgical equipment.
