Hi Brad,

Tap water in the resorts is said to be *generally* safe, but not very pleasant-tasting.

There has been at least one incident in the past year or so, if I recall correctly, where mains water in Sunny Beach was adulterated for a short period.

I tend, when in Bulgaria, to stick to mineral water for drinking but use tap water for cooking, teeth cleaning, etc.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I will stick with bottled water, how much are these?

Do you think it will be OK to make tea/coffee with tap water?

Hi Brad,

I was paying less than 2/3 Leva for 10/15 Litres in the Dobrich region in Jun/July - probably a bit more in the resorts.

Tap water for tea & coffee is perfectly safe, as it has been boiled - you may not find the flavour to your taste, it's a case of 'try it & see'.

when i was over there i drunk tap water and was fine - it tasted ok - if anything i thought it tasted nicer than bottled water - not so much of a chemical taste. although if you feel safer drinking bottled you may as well buy it cos it's so cheap.

The reps told us that although the water was perfectly safe , because of it's high mineral content, we would be better to use bottled water which is very cheap anyway.
