İ thınk the fact that you havent had any replies in ten days gives you an indidcation of how lively the social scene is in Icmeler in winter, this is what İ warn my clients about when opting for resort living. The winters can be quiet, unless you are in a bigger area.

hi joan...winters are quet and icmeler does effectively close down. There are several expats that live there and tend to congregate in the few bars that stay open. marmaris has a larger expat community and there tends to be more going on. If you need a long winter let a fiend of mine wants to rent her apartment if you are interested in Icmeler

As Chelsea Boy says, Icmeler is quiet in the winter, and there is a bigger ex pat community in Marmaris, and there are more things to do and places to go. Also this year there are direct flights to Dalaman during the winter months, so if you miss your family, the prices are quite reasonable, so you can either pop back to see them, or they can have a good excuse to come out and visit you.

I only tend to go for a few weeks in the winter, but there is always something to do. We tend to like the marina area which has many bars and restaurants open all year, there is the sports centre, where we tend to go bowling, also cinemas. So I dont think you would run out of things to do. And the weather is better than the UK.

There will be plenty of properties that do long term winter rentals, (mine included!) all of varying prices so have a look around, I am sure you will find something you like.

where is Icmeler ?

Hello Mark,

Icemeler is the resort that sits opposite Marmaris on the bay.

none the wiser I'm afraid, as I don't know where Marmaris is

I didn't know where Gozo was until I saw you ask so I used my head and typed Gozo into Google and got the answer so maybe if you have an inkling to know where Icmeler or Marmaris you could do the same.

and if I wanted to ask a question about somewhere, I wouldn't just put a heading of "social scene winter", and post it in a forum titled "expat and owners abroad" !
just read the original post again and assume you didn't know where Icmeler is - maybe thats why there were no replies for 10 days after the original posting

I would say probably the people who answer all the questions concerning Turkey and the area concerned where actually on holiday at the time or maybe the people who stay in Icmeler during the winter are very few and far between

Going back to the original question the 3 Bells, Charisma and a few other bars were open during the winter for the local people and also the ex pats to meet up in.

Probably there will be a few more doing the same this winter and as Jo said with there being winter flights now there may be more people encouraged to fly out there.
