Hi backpacker,
Quite a simple explanation really, many of the commercial vehicles on the roads in Malta have been imported second-hand from another country, quite often the UK because they are also right hand drive. Sometimes they remain with the same logo painted on them, sometimes they are crudely covered up. When on holiday over here, my brother-in-law often spots "his work van" -white with a blue stripes, a slap of white paint barely hiding the "North Thames Gas" logo!
Example of a lorry for sale over here.

Don't think this one came from the UK :?

Hello Ingliza,

With the high costs of importing a second hand car into Malta do you know if it is any cheaper to import a commercial vehicle such as a van?
The reason I ask is that we spend a lot of money on hire cars every year and are thinking of buying a runaround and leaving it over there.

Hi Mark&Nicky,
Sorry, to be honest I don't know myself
I should think my husband will know, but at the moment he is at work, so if you don't mind I will ask him later and send you a pm.
