There`a a good train service between Fuengirola and Malaga with lots of places to stop off at

There`s a Sealife centre in Benalmadena marina.

We went on a trip to Gibbraltar on a wet day, it worked out quite well as we were on the coach a few hours and we did the tour when we got there and our free time the sun managed to come out.
