Just come back so I'll answer my own question for others, the sportsman bar is open as is Homers bar they are realy friendly at Homers and the prices are good - 2 euro for a pint. On the front the Piccadilly bar is open with 2 drinks for one every night, I think they are open till 2nd Jan then they close for about 6 weeks, again a nice pub with friendly staff. there were a couple of clubs open late on Saturday all on the main rd down from the old bus station to the front. hope this info helps other visitors.
