Hi Dave,

Yes you're quite right but I bet this was probably written by someone at Sunspot and not by the Island Group folks. I guess if BuggibaHC spots this posting he'll put the matter right.

If I were staying in the Golden Bay area, and I quite like it round there, although there's plenty of buses to catch, I'd certainly make sure I'd hired a car. Driving around that part of the Island is a cush and you're well placed to nip over to Gozo on the ferry, which isn't too much of a drive from there,

HI Guys,

Yes i have taken note of this and have requested a copy of the brochure to see exactly what is stated.

Thanks for the information provided and I will surely follow it up

Hello Trev and Trevor, this was put up as a dig at the tour firms and not the hotel itself, if you have a good look at most brochures I am certain that there will be a few untruths in there somewhere, if not this site would not have to be here.
As with all things on holiday some but not all people like to have a hire car and a lot do not, and those who do not would have a long walk from Mallieha bay/town at night, or if you do have a car then (no drink for you  )

Hi Dave,

Yes you're right about not drinking and driving but as I found out many years ago being permanantly inebriated on hols ain't the way I wanted to spend my time in Malta. Don't get me wrong cause I love a drink but I find that by driving I have to lay off drinking alcohol during the day which I do normally at home anyway. I then have a decent and enjoyable drink during late afternoon and evening after I've parked up the car. This way I feel I get the most out my time without feeling ropey and tired all day. We also simply adore the taste of ice cold Kinnie by the pint so I have prefered to drink that during hot days.

Well this is how I prefer to do my holiday but I'm sure other folks wouldn't agree - but that's up to them! Good health and cheers,

Hi Trev, Trev, and Dav, with you there about drinking in the day time on hols, if you spend all day boozing then you can't be seeing magical Malta which is what it is all about, we normally have our first beer about 4pm after we return from one of our fabulous days out, we have 2 or 3 then back for a kip and a wash, we then go out again about 8pm and nip in to one of Sliema's great little bars or clubs or sit by the sea at Tanti Palmier opposite the Preluna or at one of the kiosks at Marsamxettoe before going to see great mate Vince at Il-Merill for a great meal, oh Malta how much we miss you and I thank god that we are scheduled to return in February.

Regards to you all

Hi Sliema2,

Sounds like you've the same 'regime' as we have and certainly the same ideas regarding not wasting precious holiday time by simply drinking all the time. Too much to see and too much to do and yet to do in Malta!

Hello Trev & Slliema2, yes I agree to agree with you on the drinking all I ment was that if you are in a hotel out of the way and like me you are not one for hotel entertainment and like to get about to the pubs and restaurants at night, you have little choice but to use the car or pay through the noise for a taxi in Malta and most other resorts when they think they have you.
So let your yule tide be full of merryment and I will have a Carlos 1 for you both next week when I and Mrs Holidaymaker will be on the beach 8)

P S unless you are in Sliema

Hello Dave,

Just thought I'd let you know that Malta is expecting a heat wave over the New Year period and the Canary Isles will be overcast and raining....... :P well you never know eh! Have a couple of bottles of Mahou for me and I'll drink a couple of cisk in the cold damp weather in Malta.

Merry Xmas

Hello m&n, What can I say to that, other than the new year before last we went to Madeira and forgot to take any shorts and it was red hot most days, last new year in Malta it was colder than at home and as wet as Manchester on a good day. So you may be right about it being over cast and raining, that would just about be our luck.
Merry yule tide to you both,
Dave
