We (me, husband, seven year old and perhaps teenage daughter) are considering a visit to the area of Abruzzo this year.
We usually head towards north east, close to Venice but would like to visit a different part of Italy.
I've heard it's very beautiful with coast and mountaneous areas.
We would appreciate any input regarding places to base our stay, ideally a sandy beach resort that would be central to visiting mountains etc.We DON'T like anything too commercialised, preferring the real traditional side of Italian life.
